Twelve Days of Anime Christmas - Day Three

Day Three- Majin Bone

The bands all here
After two days of talking about transforming five man bands and guys in armor fighting monsters and other armored guys, let’s talk about a five man band who transform into armor and fight other guys in armor. Wait… But anyway, let’s talk about Majin Bone.

Majin Bone is a show that came out in spring season of this year, and is still going on. It is about a group of regular boy who has no real ambition in life. But after investigating a mysterious noise that only he can hear he is attacked by a guy in a suit of armor, based off of a scorpion, and dons one of his own, a dragon armor. He is eventually joined by three, and then a fourth, Bone fighter, and together they defend the world from alien Bone fighters who seek to destroy the world. I’ve talked about this show before, usually lavishing it with praise as a top tear shonen anime. While it is more of a kids anime meant to sell toys, or in this case promote a card game, everything about it acts more like a traditional shonen show, but as a near perfect example of the genre. The best example of this is the growth of the protagonist Ryuujin Shougo. He starts as this small minded character, not really caring about the battle to save the planet, and only gets into it to protect his small slice of life, his everyday life as he puts it. But as the series keeps going, he is consciously expanding that small slice, starting from just his family and friends, to their friends, to the whole world, and even the world of those trying to destroy him, just because they are now part of his world. His growth, from normal person to a true hero, is just so well done, and it is a joy to watch. That is why his growth as a character is my moment from Majin Bone.

Seriously, if you are not watching Majin Bone, you should be and you should start now. It is an incredible show that does not get enough hype. Seriously, do yourself a favor and pick up this show. Marathon it. Enjoy Majin Bone. 9 more days left until Christmas, so until tomorrow, have fun watching.
